About Us
Who We Are
Executive Director: Elizabeth Nierdieck
Admirably equipped to balance the various roles as the Executive Director of Handfuls On Purpose Enterprises, Elizabeth has devoted herself to working with the community in developing a better plan for the management of animal issues.
From a very young age Elizabeth developed a love of companion animals. Her father loved dogs and while growing up the family had many pets. This love of animals turned into the passion that is behind the idea of Handfuls On Purpose Enterprises and the HOPE Adoption and Rescue Center. The focus and drive to save animals from cruel and inhumane situations and place them in loving homes has spurred the progress of the shelter.
Prior to opening the shelter in May of 2008 Elizabeth’s experience and responsibilities were in a wide variety of settings. However, the pursuit of her dream to open an animal shelter and develop a climate of understanding and compassion for the abandoned animals of the community was a vision that could not be ignored.
Elizabeth has helped hundreds of animals find happy and loving homes. As an ambassador for animal matters, she continually works toward the betterment of the circumstances of all animals. Future plans are to build a bigger shelter for long term housing facilities for animals that are less likely to be adopted.
Cambria Nierdieck
Cambria is a full time student at Blinn College in Bryan, and works full time at HOPE. She wears many hats at the shelter, she is the Associate Director, the Vet Tech, computer specialist, keeps up with the petfinder and other websites that host our adoptable pets. She answers phones, emails and takes pictures of all the animals. She is the database manager and the list goes on and on. You may even see her working with the animals to help them become more adoptable.
Cambria aspires to go to Texas A&M University and will be a veterinarian when she finishes school. She loves animals and has a horse and her princess. That would be her red merle Australian Shepherd Cheyenne. Cheyenne is also the activities coordinator and resident door greeter. When Cami isn’t at school or the shelter, she likes to volunteer her time at the local vet clinic. She also likes to hang out with her friends and play on the internet.

Cheyenne is a two year old red merle Australian Shepherd. Even though Cheyenne is not at the shelter every day, she still likes to keep up with who has been placed in a good home and who are the new kids in town.
Her hobbies are mostly running and wrestling with her friends, but she likes to play Frisbee with her grandpa and bark at birds and squirrels. She can run very fast and most of her friends have a hard time keeping pace with her. She loves to spend time with her family especially her Mommy, who she loves very much and when they are at home Cheyenne is Cambria's shadow.
She has a lot of other dogs in the house and a cat, whom she gets along with, they like to wrestle. Her cousin Jadyn lives there too. He is kind of fun, but he is still too small to wrestle with.
As for the future, Cheyenne is working on getting her Canine Good Citizen award and is think about teaching some obedience classes.
Donations
Our organization is supported strictly by donations. Donations are used for food and blankets, but mainly for the medical care and routine veterenary services.

Our mission is to make a measurable difference in the welfare of animals and to find loving homes for the animals taken in by the rescue center.
Our Business
The name Handfuls On Purpose comes from the Bible in the book of Ruth. It is from the story of the land owner who ordered the workers in his fields to drop handfuls of wheat on purpose for Naomi to pick up to feed her family. This generous act is the foundation of the ideals of the founders of the HOPE Rescue Center.
The idea of giving for the welfare of animals for no other reason than to promote animal awareness is the sole basis for Handfuls On Purpose.
Since the doors of the Rescue Center opened in 2008, we have taken in many dogs and cats. This included a rescue of eight puppies and their mother from under an abandon house and the housing of pets of evacuees from Hurricane Ike.
These experiences have given HOPE further confirmation that this is and endeavor that should be carried on.
